Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 367-93-1. Formula: C9H18O5S. MW: 238.30. IPTG is a molecular biology reagent. It is a beta-Galactosidase activity inducer in several bacteria, by binding and inhibiting the lac repressor and it is used in gene cloning together with X-Gal, in a technique called blue/white screening. It is used in the concentration range of 100µM - 1.5mM to induce protein expression. IPTG distinguishes between recombinant and non-recombinant plasmids carrying the beta-galactosidase gene.
