FPMPA is a selective adenosine A3 receptor (a G-protein-coupled receptor activated by the endogenous compound adenosine) agonist with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective activities. It is used to synthesize antiretroviral reagents against HIV-1 and HIV-2 and is a potential compound for the treatment of neuropathic pain, ischemic stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases.
