Bioactivity:
Fluorescein diphosphate is a colorless and nonfluorescent substrate for alkaline phosphatases. The sequential alkaline phosphatase mediated hydrolysis of its two phosphate substituents yielding weakly fluorescent fluorescein monophosphate followed by strongly fluorescent fluorescein.
