Peripheral Blood
Human peripheral blood is one of the most easily accessible sources for obtaining unprocessed tissue and primary cells. At StemExpress’s Stem Cell Collection Centres, healthy and diseased unprocessed human peripheral blood products are collected from IRB consented donors and shipped out directly or quickly processed at their FDA registered laboratory to ensure each primary cell type is of the highest quality. Peripheral Blood Leukopaks®
StemExpress’ Peripheral Blood Leukopaks® provide enriched peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with low granulocyte and red blood cells. This highly enriched PBMC fraction requires minimal downstream processing (i.e. Ficoll) and can be used directly for isolating high yields of immune cells, such as CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, CD19+ B cells, monocytes, and other immune cells. High cell yields allow researchers greater reproducibility of experiments from a single donor (minimising donor-to-donor variation), a decrease in same cell variability, and scalability of experiments. In addition, up to 12 Leukopaks can be collected from the same donor in a given year, providing an ample amount of PBMCs for large-scale experiments and research studies.
Cell-rich Leukopaks are extracted using an FDA-approved apheresis machine. Once collected, fresh Leukopaks are sent out on the same day or frozen immediately to ensure a highly viable product.

Peripheral Blood Primary Cells
Human peripheral blood contains a vast array of hematopoietic cells involved in defending the body against infection and disease. Each primary cell type has a specialised function and plays a pivotal role in human health. The study of these cells allows insight into ways of enhancing treatment and development of cures for infectious and chronic diseases and is fundamental to the advancement of cellular and regenerative medicine.
StemExpress offers a wide variety of human peripheral blood primary cells from healthy IRB consented donors who are HBV, HCV, and HIV negative. Cell attributes, such as phenotype, viability, purity, and cell count, are checked to meet rigorous standards ensuring high-quality cells before leaving the facility.

Peripheral Blood Plasma
Human peripheral blood plasma contains a variety of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors that affect the proliferation and function of immune cells, which allows peripheral blood plasma to be applicable in a wide variety of therapeutic uses. The plasma is obtained by spinning down fresh whole peripheral blood previously collected in a collection bag containing an anticoagulant.
- Range of anticoagulants available (ACD-A, EDTA or heparin)
- Possible to use custom collection tubes
- 10-200mL volumes available
- Cryopreserved or fresh
- Customisable packaging options

Peripheral Blood Serum
Human peripheral blood serum contains the same components as plasma, such as cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors, but lacks blood clotting factors. To isolate serum, peripheral blood is collected into a sterile collection bag that does not contain an anticoagulant. Fresh peripheral blood is then sent to StemExpress’ FDA-registered cell manufacturing facility where the blood is allowed to coagulate. Serum is collected into 5-250mL volumes.
Mobilised Peripheral Blood
Human Mobilised Peripheral Blood Leukopaks are collected from healthy IRB consented donors that are injected with Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF aka Neupogen®), Plerixafor (aka Mozobil®), or a combination of Plerixafor and G-CSF. Mobilisation stimulates the bone marrow to produce a large number of haematopoietic and progenitor stem cells and releases these cells into the bloodstream, allowing for enriched CD34+ haematopoietic stem cells from a single donor as compared to traditional Leukopaks. Collecting CD34+ stem cells from a single donor eliminates donor-to-donor variation, allows scalability of stem cell studies, and decreases same cell variability. Mobilised Leukopaks are ideal for stem cell studies relating to regenerative medicine, immunotherapy, and transplant therapy.
Cell-rich Mobilised Leukopaks are extracted using an FDA-approved apheresis machine. Once collected, Mobilised Leukopaks are sent out on the day of collection to ensure you receive a fresh product.

- Highly enriched PBMCs
- ≥90% viability
- HBV, HCV, HIV negative
- IRB approved

Diseased Peripheral Blood
StemExpress is a premier provider of human diseased peripheral blood, plasma, serum, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Using their strategically located collection centres and partnering hospitals, they have access to donors and the delivery of fresh products to researchers in need of rare blood samples.
All collections follow a standardised collection procedure to guarantee consistency from donor to donor, eliminating variability in the collection procedure. In addition, donors may be eligible for recall every 8 weeks (pending the health of the donor), which allows for the study of disease progression within a single donor.

Diseased Peripheral Blood Plasma
Diseased human peripheral blood plasma contains a variety of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors that affect the proliferation and function of immune cells, which allows peripheral blood plasma to be applicable in a wide variety of therapeutic uses. Additionally, diseased plasma may also contain DNA and proteins released by diseased cells, allowing researchers the ability to identify biomarkers that aid in the development of cost-effective screens for the early detection and diagnosis of diseases. Fresh diseased peripheral blood is sent to StemExpress on-site cell manufacturing facility where the blood is spun down and the plasma is collected into 5mL and 10mL volumes in EDTA tubes. All samples are provided in either fresh or frozen formats.

Diseased Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells
StemExpress provides peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from diseased peripheral blood from IRB approved donors for the study of a wide range of diseases. Cell attributes, such as phenotype, viability, and cell count, are checked to meet rigorous standards ensuring high-quality PBMCs before leaving the facility. Diseased cells are available in 5x10e6 and 1x10e7 cells/vial in either fresh or frozen formats.
Bone Marrow
StemExpress provides whole human bone marrow and bone marrow-derived primary cells. Bone marrow is collected by a certified medical professional from a maximum of four sites on the posterior iliac crest (100 mL total). Human bone marrow samples are shipped immediately or processed into a specific primary cell population at StemExpress’s on-site FDA registered laboratory.
Bone marrow is the site of haematopoiesis or the location of blood cell formation. It is rich in haematopoietic stem cells (CD34+ and CD133+ cells), the cells that give rise to white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets, and is a key source for mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), also called mesenchymal stromal cells, which provide the microenvironmental support for haematopoietic stem cells and produce cells of the connective tissue such as bone, cartilage, fat, and muscle.
Whole Bone Marrow
Fresh human whole bone marrow is collected by a licensed medical professional from healthy IRB consented donors at one of StemExpress Collection Centres. The fluid portion of the bone marrow is aspirated from up to a maximum of 4 sites on the posterior iliac crest and collected into 10 to 100mL containers that include anticoagulants Na-Heparin or ACD-A. We also offer other anticoagulants by request.
Bone Marrow Primary Cells
Fresh whole bone marrow previously collected is transferred to StemExpress on-site cell manufacturing facility where specific bone marrow primary cells are processed, analysed, and vialed. Cell attributes, such as phenotype, viability, purity, and cell count, are checked to meet rigorous standards, ensuring high-quality cells before leaving the facility.
