Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 23094-69-1. Formula: C27H22O18. MW: 634.45. Isolated from plant source. Corilagin is a polyphenol and hydrolyzable tannin that can be isolated from a variety of plants. It inhibits squalene epoxidase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis and has various anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. This compound displays the ability to inhibit NF-kappaB pathway activation and also prevent the release of TNF-alpha. Additional studies show that Corilagin significantly inhibits type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) in rat plasma. Shown to have antioxidant, antiviral and hepatoprotective properties. Induces apoptosis, autophagy and ROS generation in several cell lines.
