Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 6556-12-3. Formula: C6H10O7. MW: 194.14. Glucuronic acid is a water soluble sugar acid formed by oxidation of the C-6 carbon of glucose. Glucuronic acid is a common building block of proteoglycans and glycoglycerolipids and a key intermediate metabolite of the uronic acid pathway. It can be used as a reference compound to quantify glucuronic acid in urine sample. It also has been shown to act on toll-like receptor 4 to aggravate both acute and chronic inflammatory conditions as well as increasing the perceived severity of pain in patients with chronic pain conditions, via up-regulation of the production and release of endogenous inflammatory signaling molecules within the body.
