Tetra-N-acetylchitotetraose elicits plant defense systems. Tetra-N-acetylchitotetraose is a component of the hpo-chitoo gosaccha?des (LCOs) secreted from Rhizobia. Tetra-N-acetylchitotetraose is also a substrate for the Rhizobium leguminosarum nodulation protein NodB, a CO deacetylase.
