Bioactivity:
MITOPQ (MITOPARAQUAT) is a redox cycler. MITOPQ selectively accumulates in membrane potential-driven mitochondrial matrix. In the matrix, MITOPQ selectively increases the production of superoxides in mitochondria through the REDOX cycle at the flavin site of complex I. MITOPQ selectively generates superoxides within mitochondria and is a useful tool for studying the many roles of mitochondrial superoxides in pathology and REDOX signaling in cells and in vivo.
