Cromakalim, a potassium channel-opening vasodilator, acts on ATP-sensitive potassium channels and so causes membrane hyperpolarization, it can be used to treat hypertension as it will relax vascular smooth muscle to lower blood pressure. The active isomer is levcromakalim.
