Thiamine is a water-soluble and heat-labile essential vitamin, belonging to the vitamin B family, with erythropoietic, glucose-regulating, antioxidant, and mood modulating activities. Thiamine may also protect against lead toxicity by the inhibit of lead-induced lipid peroxidation.
