Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 03.01.7143. Formula: C2H6O5S2. MW: 174.2. Methanesulfonic anhydride is a building block for organic synthesis. It is used to prepare methylsulfonyl esters, also called as mesylates. It finds application in the reaction of aromatic alkylation. It reacts with dimethylsulfoxide to get sulfoxonium complex, which is a useful oxidizing agent. It is a more powerful sulfonylating reagent than the sulfonyl chloride. Used in the synthesis of (R)-Amino Carnitine, an inhibitor of fatty acid oxidation.
