INI1 is also involved in the repair of DNA damage, and it can help to prevent cancer cells from developing. Mutations or deletions of the INI1 gene are associated with a number of different cancers, including malignant rhabdoid tumor (MRT), atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT), and clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK).
