Background:
NRF2 is a transcriptional factor and responses to an environmental stress including oxidative condition, together with another oxidative stress sensor, Keap1. Under normal physiological conditions, Keap1 mediates ubiquitination and degradation of NRF2, resulting in low levels of NRF2 in normal cells. It has been reported that one of the?autophagy-related proteins, p62, accumulates in cancer cells and competes interaction?between NRF2 and Keap1, and then NRF2 translocates to nucleus and leads gene expression of NRF2 related-cytoprotective factors, including detoxifying enzymes.
