Background:
Nono, also known as p54nrb, localizes to nuclear paraspeckles composed of distinct membrane-less subnuclear organelles termed as nuclear bodies. Paraspeckles consist of some RNAs and proteins, and representative RNA component of paraspeckle is Neat1 long non-coding RNA, which can bind to Nono directly. Nono plays multiple roles in gene expression regulation systems such as transcription and splicing by binding to DNA and RNA via its coiled coil domain and RNA recognition motif, respectively. It is also reported that Nono relates to nuclear retention of “A-to-I edited” RNA.
