Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 109-57-9. Formula: C4H8N2S. MW: 116.18. Allylthiourea (ATU) is a strong, selective inhibitor of ammonia and nitrite oxidation. Allylthiourea is commonly used to inhibit nitritation, by targeting the ammonia monooxygenase action and chelating the copper in the active site (concentration 8-80uM), ultimately hindering its function. Nitritation inhibition has been used in micropollutant biodegradability studies and in studies investigating nitritation kinetics and activity. Allylthiourea is also a potent inhibitor of methane monooxygenase (MMO).
