ONO-4817 is a broad-spectrum inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase ( MMP ). Inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) is expected to suppress atherosclerotic neointimal proliferation and thus limits atheromatous plaque progression. ONO-4817 suppresses the development of aortic intimal hyperplasia in experimental hyperlipidemic rabbit [1].
