Topiramate lithium (McN 4853) is a wide-ranging antiepileptic compound with GluR5 receptor antagonistic properties. Its mechanism of action involves enhancing GABAergic activity, inhibiting kainate/AMPA receptors, voltage-sensitive sodium and calcium channels, and increasing potassium conductance.
