Bioactivity:
Latrunculin B causes changes in actin organization and cell shape. It sequesters G-actin and prevents F-actin assembly. It binds monomeric actin and blocks actin polymerization both in vitro and in cells with the Kd of 60 nM. Latrunculin B is extracted from the Red Sea sponge Latrunculia magnifica.
