Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 1334332-65-8. Formula: C50H99NO9. MW: 858.3. Potent stimulator of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells. Induces strong antitumor immunity through a nitric oxide (NO) and TNF-alpha dependent mechansim, different compared to the IFN-gamma dependent mechanism of alpha-GalCer (AG-CN2-0014). Does not induce anergy of iNKT cells.
Molecular Formula:
C50H99NO9
Molecular Weight:
858.3
Other data:
Natural killer T cells (NKT cells) are important regulators of the immune system. They share properties of both innate as well as adaptive immunity. They express T cell receptors (TCR) on their surface consisting of an invariable alpha-chain and a somewhat variable beta-chain. The majority of NKT cells express the invariable alpha-chain Valpha14-Jalpha18 (Valpha14) in mouse or its homolog in humans Valpha24-Jalpha18 (Valpha24). NKT cells expressing the invariant Valpha19-Jalpha26 TCR alpha-chain (Valpha19 NKT cells) have been found in peripheral blood lymphocytes and in the liver.
