Background:
This gene encodes a protein localized in mitochondria and
closely related to paraplegin. The paraplegin gene is responsible
for an autosomal recessive form of hereditary spastic paraplegia.
This gene is a candidate gene for other hereditary spastic
paraplegias or neurodegenerative disorders.
