Background:
This gene encodes the seventh largest subunit of RNA
polymerase II, the polymerase responsible for synthesizing
messenger RNA in eukaryotes. The protein functions in transcription
initiation, and is also thought to help stabilize transcribing
polyermase molecules during elongation.
